dream
it doesn't come together
like you might want it to
instead you’re trapped
holding
not the girl you love
but an old bottle of whiskey
a ten-year-old bottle
that has set up a projection screen
showing
everything one drop from this bottle might bring
the good, the bad
you don't want to be Simon of the desert
or realize the cruelty in your eyes
that has never left
you end up walking in the street naked
everything that hides exposed
you have nothing to say but hello
