Steve Kowit and Jack Grapes — Caught!
Why do people looking for action cruise Hollywood Boulevard
after dark when the truly risqué goings-on take place at book
fairs? It must have been the late 80s when this anonymous
photographer trolling for scandal sheet snaps managed to catch
poet and teacher Jack Grapes with this issue's essayist Steve
Kowit. No surprise this took place at the notorious Orange
County Book Fair, where the "What Happens Here Stays Here"
atmosphere of license entices heterosexual men to start kissing,
or seemingly ordinary people to buy poetry.... Anything can
happen.
